Crochet: Snazzy Belt and Handbag with Mini-Purse

Below you will find all you need to know to crochet our snazzy multi-colored tie belt or charming celadon handbag with matching mini-purse.
Snazzy Belt

Skill level: Beginner

Materials:

  • Grace by Patons, 1 3/4oz/50g balls, each approx 136yd/125m (100% cotton) 1 ball each in light green, blue and blue/green varigated
  • Size B/1 crochet hook OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE

GAUGE: 28 sc and 10 rows to 4"/10cm over sc pat using size B/1 crochet hook. TAKE TIME TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.

With blue, chain 200. Row 1 (RS) Work 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch to end. Ch 1, turn. Row 2 Work 1 sc in front lps only of each sc to end. Fasten off. Row 3 (RS) Return to beg of RS row and ch 1 with lt green, sc in back lps of each sc to end. Row 4 (RS) Return to beg of RS row and working through back lps only with blue, sc in each sc to end. Row 5 Return to beg of RS row and working through both lps and with varigated yarn, work sc in each st to end. Rows 6-11 Working through both lps work sc, cutting yarn and beg each new row on RS. Next row Working from RS, join blueyarn in row 3 along side edge, work 6 sc across end of belt, 3 sc in corner, sc in each sc along top edge of belt, 3 sc in corner, 6 sc along side edge. Fasten off. Next row Return to beg of last row and from RS, with lt green work 1 sc in both lps of each sc around, with sc, ch 1 and sc in each corner st. Fasten off. Next row Working from WS and blue, work 1 hdc in front lps only of each sc all around entire outside edge of belt, working 3 hdc in each corner. Fasten off.

FINISHING: Block flat to measurements. If desired, soak belt in a sink of liquid starch to stiffen. Lay flat to dry.

Chain ties (make 2)

With blue, ch 200. Sl st in each ch to end. Attach ties at each end. Add 8 strands of yarn to each end for tassles. Cut tassels to 1 1/4".
