Breast cancer treatment is no longer "one size fits all." Each tumor is different: Some are larger, some are more aggressive, and all have their own set of genes. Genomics, the technology used to understand the makeup of individual tumors, is helping doctors provide more precise treatment to women. "We have a better understanding of each tumor we examine and are better able to predict what treatments may help," says Jaya Juturi, MD, chief of oncology at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas. "It allows us to provide more personalized medicine to patients."
