It doesn't matter if you drink wine, beer, or cosmos. A recent University of Chicago study reveals that just one to two alcoholic drinks per day may increase your risk of breast tumors by 32 percent. Three or more daily drinks ups the odds by 51 percent.
Pop an aspirin.Taking two baby aspirin a day may reduce the risk of estrogen-sensitive breast cancer by up to 26 percent. (About 65 percent of breast cancers are estrogen-sensitive, meaning the hormone fuels their growth.) Check with your doctor to determine if you're a good candidate for this daily regimen.
Eat eggs -- yolks and all.Choline, a nutrient in the vitamin B family that's found in egg yolks, can cut breast cancer risk by 24 percent, according to a recent study of 3,000 women. Women with the highest choline intake (a daily average of 455mg) saw the biggest benefit. One egg contains 125mg of the nutrient.
Stop eating junk food.Research reveals that women with the highest blood levels of trans fats have about twice the risk of breast cancer as those with the lowest levels. So stick to the outer aisles of the supermarket, where the freshest -- and trans fat-free -- foods are found.
