The easiest way to stay healthy is to stay active, says fitness expert Denise Austin, who is releasing her fiftieth exercise video this year. “Your heart is a muscle, and you need to condition it just as you would your biceps,” says Austin, a spokesperson for Take Heart, a campaign to raise awareness of heart disease in women. The best way to target your ticker is with cardio exercise.
This 20-minute, 3 to 4 times a week routine does double duty, working the heart as well as the hips, butt, arms and abs. Do each exercise for 60 seconds, marching in place for a minute between each move. Then repeat the sequence. Finish with the Dancer's Pose to release stress and increase flexibility.
