Egg Dye Recipes

Learn how to make egg dye from our April 2016 issue.

To achieve the range of colors shown in the April 2016 issue, use Rit Dye in the quantities and colors shown.  Note that eggs are for decorative use only.
 
Add the dye quantities shown below to a base of 1 cup boiling water and 1 tablespoon vinegar. 
GREENS:

 
·      4 teaspoons Apple + base
·      2 teaspoons Apple + base
·      1 Tablespoon Kelly + base
·      1 Tablespoon Kelly + 1 Tablespoon Golden Yellow + base
·      1 teaspoon Teal + 1 teaspoon Kelly + base
·      2 teaspoon Kelly + 1 teaspoon Lemon + base
·      4 teaspoons Kelly + 1 Tablespoon Golden Yellow + base 
AQUA GREEN:

 
·      1/8 teaspoon Teal + 1/8 teaspoon Kelly Green + base
 

YELLOWS:

·      1 teaspoon Golden Yellow + 1/4 teaspoon Petal + base
·      1 Tablespoon Golden Yellow + 1/4 teaspoon Petal + base
·      2 teaspoons Golden Yellow + 3Ž4 teaspoon Petal + base
·      1 Tablespoon Golden Yellow + 1Ž2 teaspoon Petal + base

CORALS:

·      1/2 teaspoon Petal + 1Ž4 teaspoon Sunshine + base
·      1 teaspoon Tangerine + base
·      1 teaspoon Petal + 1/8 teaspoon Sunshine + base
·      1/2 teaspoon Scarlet + 1/2 teaspoon Sunshine
