• Heat oven to 425°. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Quarter broccoli stalks lengthwise. Add to boiling water and simmer 3 minutes. Drain.

  • In a medium pot, melt butter over medium. Stir in flour and cook 1 minute. Whisk in milk. Bring to a simmer and cook 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in Parmesan, pepper and salt.

  • Transfer broccoli to a 13 x 9-inch baking dish. Pour sauce on top and bake 15 minutes. Broil 2 to 3 minutes, until cheese sauce begins to brown.
