• Heat oven to 350°.

  • Line a 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan with nonstick foil.

  • In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine butter and unsweetened chocolate. Microwave 1 minute; whisk to blend slightly. Microwave 1 more minute; whisk until smooth.

  • Whisk in sugar, then whisk in eggs, one at a time. Whisk in flour, vanilla and salt. Stir chocolate chips into batter. Spread into foil-lined pan and sprinkle with jimmies, if using. Bake 30 minutes.

  • Cool brownie completely in pan on a wire rack. Use foil to lift brownie from pan. Using assorted-size cutters, cut into hearts. Dust plain brownies with confectioners’ sugar.
