Aunt Jewel's Coffee Cake
Sugar and cinnamon make a perfectly delectable topping for this any-occasion dessert recipe.

  1. 1 of 6 Heat oven to 325 degrees F.
  2. 2 of 6 Coat a 9-inch square baking pan with nonstick cooking spray. Set aside.
  3. 3 of 6 Beat butter and 1 cup of the sugar until fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time. Stir in sour cream and vanilla.
  4. 4 of 6 Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Stir into batter until smooth.
  5. 5 of 6 Spoon half of the batter into pan.Combine remaining 1/2 cup sugar, the cinnamon and nuts (if using) in a small bowl. Sprinkle 2/3 of it over the batter. Top with remaining batter and sprinkle with remaining cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  6. 6 of 6 Bake at 325 degrees F for 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Serve warm.
