• Heat oven to 350°.

  • Combine plums, 1/3 cup sugar and cinnamon sticks in an 8-inch square baking dish. Arrange mixture evenly, tucking cinnamon sticks beneath plums.

  • To make topping, stir flour, 1/2 cup sugar and the oats in a medium bowl to combine. Using your fingers, rub butter into flour mixture until moist clumps form. Mix in almonds. Sprinkle crumb topping evenly over plum mixture.

  • Bake 45 minutes or until juices bubble, fruit is tender and topping is golden brown. Let stand at least 10 minutes. Spoon crumble into bowls and serve with vanilla ice cream, if desired.
