  1. 1 of 1 In a large bowl, beat 2 sticks (1 cup) softened unsalted butter, 2/3 cup granulated sugar, 1 large egg and 1/4 tsp salt until fluffy, 3 minutes. On low speed, beat in 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour until smooth. Tint pale green with green food coloring. Spoon dough into a cookie press fitted with standard wreath disk, following manufacturer's directions. Press out wreaths onto large baking sheets, spacing cookies about 3/4 inch apart. Before baking, press in Red Hots candies or M&M's minis as "holly berries," if desired. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes, until slightly puffed and set. Transfer cookies directly to racks to cool. Make glaze: In a bowl, whisk 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar and 4 tsp water. Brush over cookies; if desired, sprinkle on green decorator's sugar. Let dry 15 minutes before stacking.
