Fettuccine with Quick Tomato Sauce

  1. 1 of 3 Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add fettuccine and cook about 12 min. Drain, reserving 1 cup pasta water.
  2. 2 of 3 While pasta cooks, heat EVOO in a large skillet over med-high. Add cherry tomatoes. Cook, stirring, 4 min. Add garlic, salt and pepper. Cook 4 more min, until tomatoes soften. Remove from heat.
  3. 3 of 3 Stir in basil. Add pasta and reserved pasta water. Toss and top with Asiago. Make it Meaty: Stir cooked sausage into fettuccine (a flavored chicken one would be delicious) or fully cooked mini meatballs. You Say Tomato... The main difference between cherry and grape tomatoes is their shape. Grape tomatoes are oblong, like their namesakes, while cherry tomatoes are round. Also, grape tomatoes have thicker skin and are slightly less sweet, while cherry tomatoes are juicier. Either type would work well in the fettuccine.
