• In a large lidded pot, toast almonds over medium for 5 to 6 minutes, stirring frequently. Transfer to a plate and carefully wipe out pot.

  • Heat oil in pot over medium. Add popcorn kernels and cover.

  • Cook until a few kernels begin to pop, about 3 minutes, shaking pot, then quickly add sugar. Continue to cook, shaking pot constantly until popping slows down to once every 2 seconds (about another 3 minutes).

  • Pour popcorn into a large bowl and add almonds and salt. Toss to combine. Cool a few minutes and toss with M&M's.
