  1. 1 of 1 In a large bowl, combine 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup each granulated sugar and packed brown sugar, 1/2 cup each solid vegetable shortening and creamy peanut butter, 1 large egg, 2 tbsp milk, 1 tsp each vanilla extract and baking soda and 1/4 tsp salt. Beat at low speed until dough is stiff. Shape dough into 1-inch balls and roll in granulated sugar. Place 2 inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes, until golden brown. Immediately place a Hershey's Kiss on top of each cookie, pressing down firmly -- cookie will crack. Remove from baking sheet to a rack to cool completely.
