  1. 1 of 4 Mix flour and salt in bowl.
  2. 2 of 4 With pastry blender or finger-tips, rub butter and shortening into flour mixture until texture of coarse meal.
  3. 3 of 4 Gradually add water, tossing with fork, until mixture begins to mass together. Shape into ball.
  4. 4 of 4 Flatten into disk. Cover with plastic wrap. Refrigerate until well chilled, about 30 minutes. Makes enough for 1-crust pie.
