• Heat oven to 375°. In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt.

  • In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes. Add egg and vanilla and beat until well blended. Gradually add flour mixture and beat until just blended. Tint dough red with paste food coloring.

  • Fit a flower disk (with 5 diamond-shaped openings) into a cookie press. Add dough, packing it slightly to remove any air bubbles. Press cookie dough shapes, about 1 1/2 inches apart, on a cookie sheet, adding more dough when necessary. Place several yellow sprinkles in center of each flower. Bake at 375° until set and lightly golden, 10 to 12 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack to cool. Repeat with remaining dough.
