  1. 1 of 4 Heat oven to 350 degrees . Grease a 13 x 9-inch baking dish with butter.
  2. 2 of 4 In a large bowl, whisk melted butter and next 5 ingredients. Whisk in half-and-half and sweet potato puree. Stir in pecans and cubed bread, blending thoroughly. Cover surface with plastic wrap and place a heavy bowl on top. Let soak 40 minutes, stirring halfway.
  3. 3 of 4 In a food processor, pulse torn bread until small crumbs form. Sprinkle into bottom of prepared baking dish.
  4. 4 of 4 Pour filling into baking dish. Bake 55 minutes, until just firm. Transfer to a rack and cool 15 minutes. Dust with confectioners' sugar; slice into squares and serve warm.
