These sweet, indigo-hued gems are ripe for picking.

By Julie Miltenberger

A few years ago on a trip to Chile, I learned about all the different varietals of blueberries (the rabbiteye being one—and a recent answer on Jeopardy!). Luckily, come mid-July I don't have to travel to the Southern Hemisphere to sample some of the freshest fruit around—I can either purchase a few pints at my local farmers' market or go pick my own. Then I can get baking! For the pint I bought this weekend, I selected this lemon-blueberry scone recipe. Next up? Maybe a parfait or even a smoothie.
