How to Make the Perfect Apple Blossom Pie
Impress your Thanksgiving guests with this beautiful pie that looks a lot more complicated than it is. Follow our seven easy, step-by-step instructions to achieve pie greatness!
Step 1
Core and thinly slice apples. Bring juice to a simmer in a large skillet. Add apple slices in batches, simmering until softened and pliable.
Step 2
With a sharp knife, cut pie crust into 1-inch-wide strips.
Step 3
Coat one of the rounded (outer) strips of dough with sugar mixture and press onto side of pie plate. Press overlapping apple slices along dough, rounded side up. Add a second sugared dough strip and layer on more apple slices.
Step 4
Continue layering dough strips and apples, occasionally pushing dough and apples towards outside of dish.
Step 5
Small strips of dough should be visible through the apple slices.
Step 6
Once you reach the center of the blossom, curl one apple slice around itself and tuck into middle.
Step 7
Tuck any remaining apple slices around edge of pie plate and also use to fill any gaps within center of pie.
