How to Apply Tinted Moisturizer

Swap your foundation for sheer but complete coverage with these tips from CoverGirl makeup artist Molly R. Stern.

Step 1: Hydrate

Cleanse face, then blot lightly with a towel. Rub a dime-size drop of moisturizer (preferably one with sunscreen and nourishing vitamins C and E) into damp skin. Wait a few minutes to let the cream sink in thoroughly.

Step 2: Cover

Dot concealer starting at the eyes' inner corners and work outward, using a tiny brush or cotton swab. (Three small dabs on each side is all you need.) Pat with fingers to blend, connecting the dots. Choose a creamy product about a half-shade lighter than your skin tone to avoid a raccoon look. Spot-treat any blemishes as well.

Step 3: Apply and Blend

Put tinted moisturizer on a dry makeup sponge (it helps to spread the product evenly). Then dab on the center of your forehead and blend up toward hairline. Next, move down the bridge of your nose, outward to both cheeks, then to chin. Apply lightly around jawbone, all the way to the upper part of your neck so color is uniform. If skin gets oily during the day, dust on some sheer pressed powder when needed.
