R&B sensation, entrepreneur and dad Usher partners with Yoobi to create a curated line of school supplies that gives back to communities in need.

Back in the day, school supplies used to be so, well, basic—plain pencils, pens and notebooks. The most fun you could have might be with a decorative Trapper Keeper. But, boy, have things changed. The options are seemingly endless when it comes to prints, patterns, colors and characters. School supplies really are an extension of your students' personal style, and they can get kids excited about school and feeling more confident about learning. Problem is, not all kids have access to adequate supplies, and teachers can't always afford to foot the bill themselves. So we wanted to call attention to the launch of a cool new collab that is helping close the school supply gap: the partnership between our friends at Yoobi and entertainer Usher Raymond, who has two school-aged sons and knows a thing or two about what's hip.

Just last week Yoobi X Usher launched with five new prints, all designed by street artist Jonni Cheatwood and curated by Usher himself. The line consists of more than 20 items and includes everything from binders, folders and notebooks to zip cases and lanyards. The whole idea behind the collection is to mix school smarts with street style, so each of the items features bold, colorful art motifs like the splatter prints, paint drips and sketchy lines associated with street art. As a longtime advocate of improving lives through childhood education, Usher was a natural fit for Yoobi’s long-term goal of giving every child in the U.S. the basic tools for creative expression. Like the rest of the Yoobi collection, which is also sold at Target, for every Yoobi X Usher item purchased, Yoobi donates an item to a classroom in need.
